Astral inspiring truths. Carole, 55: ‘I feel more beautiful now than when I was 25’

"In my twenties, I was so shy. I had hang-ups about everything, especially my bum; I always wore baggy jumpers to cover it and hated people looking at me. I wasn’t confident or outgoing in any way.

I think the turning point for me was at 30, after my long term boyfriend and I broke up. I was heartbroken, but it was around that time I got offered a job as a shop assistant in an exclusive London boutique. It opened up a whole exciting new world for me. I loved it: seeing all the latest fashions and the immaculate-looking women who came in. I actually started being fashionable for the first time! I started coordinating my shoes and bags, wearing nice jewellery, painting my nails, little things like that.

The effect on how I felt and how people responded to me just made the effect grow and grow. Some years later I also took the quite drastic decision to go blonde – it was the best thing I ever did! I now know that I was born to be blonde!

I met my husband at 34 and I’m happy. I feel like I’m at my best now, my body’s never looked better. I lost 10lbs last year (to my husband’s dismay - he loves me with curves!) but I feel good, I’m fitter than I ever was when I was younger too; I jog or do yoga regularly in the mornings before work and actually enjoy that bit of head-clearing space it gives me.

I think the best thing of all is that my outlook’s changed from when I was 20; I live in the here and now and try to enjoy every single minute of it."
