"A few days ago I was invited to a really posh party. There was a gorgeous 40 year old guy who flirted with me constantly the whole evening. He was desperately trying to work out my age by asking questions about my children and their ages. I spent the whole night being deliberately ‘mysterious’ so he wouldn’t realise that I was actually 11 years older than him!

This kind of experience is completely new for me. For the first time in my life I feel confident, happy and carefree. I separated from my over-possessive husband seven years ago and bit by bit, I’ve started to really enjoy myself. I’ve finally passed my driving test, I meet people, go out. I’ve got admirers of all ages – it’s great! I’ve always been attracted to good-looking guys (who isn’t?), but this is the first time I’ve got compliments from them.

I no longer worry about anything but the here and now. It’s great. I’m not scared of getting older either. I’ve got grandchildren and I love that, it actually makes me feel younger; I feel like I’ve got lots ahead of me to look forward to. Getting to 50 has been the best bit of my life so far. I celebrated with a huge party with all my friends. I’ve never had so much fun as I’m having now!"
